Receiving A Denial Letter May Not Be The Last Word
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Some Alabama residents who have applied for disaster assistance may have received a letter saying their application is denied. Don’t be alarmed. Some denial letters are sent to applicants who simply need to supply additional information, so the Federal Emergency Management Agency (fema) can continue to process their applications.

Jefferson City, Mo. — Residents in 28 counties who suffered property damage or loss from the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding from May 8 16 can register for federal disaster assistance.

fema Funding Reaches Over $32 Million For December Ice Storm
HOLYOKE, Mass. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (fema) has obligated $32,058,172 to reimburse seven Massachusetts counties for eligible costs associated with their response to the December 11 through December 18, 2008, ice storm. This amount represents the 75% federal share of funding for the work. The remaining 25% of the cost is the responsibility of the 272 Massachusetts communities, eligible private-non-profits, and state agencies that applied for federal aid through fema s Public Assistance (PA) program.

But it does mean that you may be eligible for a low-cost Preferred Risk Policy (PRP) available through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
