Calhoun County Flood Risk Open House To Take Place Dec. 1
CHICAGO, Ill. — Representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (fema), in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, will host a flood risk information open house for Calhoun County residents on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Calhoun County Building, 3rd floor, Board of Commissioners’ Chambers, 315 W. Green St. in Marshall, Mich. Newly released preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps will be displayed so residents can learn about their risk of flooding and how this will affect their lives and property. Those interested may drop in at any time during the event to discuss mapping issues with MDEQ representatives.

Following a request by Governor Joe Manchin and damage assessments by the State and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (fema) the Federal Public Assistance program has to date, obligated more than $8.2 million in grants for debris removal, emergency protective measures, repair of road systems and bridges, and parks and recreational facilities.
