DENVER – As spring approaches, North Dakota communities are once again preparing for the possibility of flooding. fema Recovery and Mitigation experts have several recommendations to help people get ready for flood waters. First and foremost on the list is to get flood insurance. In North Dakota, the average cost of flood insurance is about $460 a year. Since 1978, state residents have collected almost $150 million in insurance reimbursements.

fema Awards $4.3 Million Grant To The City Of Columbus
CHICAGO, Ill. — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security s Federal Emergency Management Agency (fema) today released $4.3 million in Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funds to the city of Columbus, Ind. The funds will be used to acquire and remove 63 homes susceptible to annual flooding. The funds will be available once a final agreement is signed between the city of Columbus and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS).

There have been two recent additions to the ranks of the regional Report Cards: California and North Carolina. In the last half of September ASCE Sections from these two states released their regional Report Cards bringing the total number of state or regional Report Cards to nineteen.
