President Declares Major Disaster For New York


WASHINGTON, D.C. — The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (fema) today announced that federal disaster aid has been made available for the state of New York to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by a severe winter storm during the period of December 11-31, 2008.

fema Assistance Passes The $365 Million Mark
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Over the past 18-months, the state of Indiana was affected by severe weather in which the state requested and was granted five presidentially declared disasters. Those declarations resulted in a total over $365,829,399 in disaster assistance to the state. Through Federal Emergency Management Agency (fema) program grants and Small Business Administration (SBA) loans, recovery assistance was available to individuals and state and local governments that were affected by the disasters.
